The Rabbi has grey hair and beard, with piercing blue eyes. Although he is approaching 50, his stance is still strong, and his demeanor shows solid determination.

Rabbi Ivanov learned of Vampires from a renegade Kindred in Russia. The Jew was driven out of his homeland when the orthodox community tried to kill him for attempting to get the truth about the Vampires known. He fled eventually to America, where he collects knowledge of the Kindred for study, and sends his findings on to the organized research team.

He is currently studying in New Chelsea, where he also runs a local synagogue. The Cainite population is unaware of his knowledge of the Masquerade.

Though not physically powerful, Ivanov's wits allow him to evade the Kindred he comes across, and his faith in God protects him from their evil.
