Charles Gunn

Gunn (as he is simply known) is a street hoodlum who has taken it upon himself to battle evil in his neighborhood. His team that works with him is similarly composed of the homeless who defend their territory against the undead.

The psyche of this young man, what led him to take up the mantle of a street Slayer, is as yet unknown. But the death of his sister, Alanna, made him much more determined.

A vampire gang kidnapped Alanna, and turned her to a vampire. Gunn was forced to slay his sister, and it still haunts him today.

Gunn has been accused of loving the thrill of endangering his life to battle vampires, though he vehemently denies it. Now, though, what drives him is the fear that, should he ever let his guard slip down, another like his sister may be hurt. This he cannot stand.

Now, Gunn is under the pay of Angel Investigations, on a case-by-case basis, though it seems work is never hard to find in the City of Angels.

Cordelia Chase, prompted by the Powers That Be, has taken it upon herself to protect Gunn from his own gung-ho attitude which she fears will get him killed. Like Alanna, his sister, Cordelia is afraid of Gunn's love for the fight - afraid for his life. Though it frustrates Gunn, he may well need the protection someday.

So, on the streets of Los Angeles, vampires have more than just Angel to beware:
